About Me:
As a youth, both Dan and his brother became musicians, a passion that he maintains to the present day. He noticed from the get-go that his favorite performers carried with them a great sense of style and image. It seemed to make everything that much more exciting.
As anyone who has worked in the music industry knows, one must learn to be resourceful, yet Dan was determined to only take on work he found challenging and creative. In the end, this quest would lead him to many disparate and demanding fields including everything from high-end retail fashion sales and styling to commercial and film production.
Eventually - as his music career blossomed - he began recording, touring and appearing on national television shows. He spent time in Europe and lived in music and tastemaker capitals such as London and Austin. At the same time, he attended fashion shoots with his then model girlfriend and met other top-notch models and photographers. He experienced first-hand how images were created.
As his music career wound down, he became a graduate student in psychology with the intention of working with artists and musicians. As he continued his studies, his writing skills developed and soon he was offered assignments, eventually becoming a journalist for music magazines and internet sites. Those same skills lead him to the field of freelance music public relations and marketing. He also became involved in politics, helping to cover the 2000 Democratic Convention for the office of Governor, Gray Davis. Later, he was again drawn into politics working with the John Kerry Campaign and the West Los Angeles Democratic Club. Participants included party luminaries, Governor Michael Dukakis, former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich, former Al Gore Campaign Manager, Donna Brazile, author and commentator, Arianna Huffington and others. Continuing, he consulted and worked with boutique PR firms such as HRPR/Alphadog Public Relations (High-end resorts and spas), Hype Communications and The Visioneering Group (body, mind, spirit experts whose clients include author, Eckhart Tolle {A New Earth, featured on Oprah}and films, What the Bleep Do We Know!, as well as Leonardo Di Caprio's, The 11th Hour.
“All these endeavors have built upon themselves and brought me to where I am today. If any of these pieces were missing, I would not be able to do the work I do. It allows me to see the big picture.” He goes on, “I have either worked or been peripherally involved in industries where images are very important, and my psych background gives me the insight I need as to how to best pull all of the pieces together. It allows me to communicate in a new way, a unique way that registers with people on many different levels.”
